* THE WILLI CONSTRUCTION SET *
* VERSION 2.0 *
**************************************************************************
This version of WCS does not have all the long waits of the original
version and is MUCH nicer to play!!! If you've tried the original and
couldn't stand the long waits (or even if you didn't mind them), then try
this. If you read HARV's review in INFO (THANKS AGAIN, HARV), but still
didn't download it, then now's the time. Willi is better than ever!
CHANGES:
Screen loading and changing sped up (thanks to jlib!)
Editing screens completely re-written
All the original levels plus six NEW levels
NOTES:
The arp.library is required in your LIBS: directory for loading and
saving of screens. If you don't have it, you can still play, but you
will only have the default 6 levels available. You could also LIST the
program, find the line with `default$="NEW"' and change NEW to something
else. (You could also do this anyway if you want to change which screens
are loaded automatically at start-up.)
If you've created new screens with the older version of WCS, then they
are no longer compatible. However, I've included a short program to
convert from the old format to the new! So convert them, and then upload
them so that we all can try them!
To set up WCS v2.0, unarc into whatever directory you like, then execute
the EXECUTE.ME file. If you have screens to convert, copy the files into
the wcs directory that EXECUTE.ME created, then run the convert program.
You're ready to go!
When editing new screens, clicking on `GET' will load that level to be
edited. You will have to click on `PUT' before saving, or your changes
will not be saved. Click on `GET' again before returning to game to try
your new level. `GET' copies a level to the screen. `PUT' swaps
whatever is on the screen with the appropriate level. This makes editing
a little more complicated, but allows you to re-arrange the levels after
you're done. Click on the title of the level to change it.
When saving edited game pieces, the old file will be renamed to
`pieces.parts.a' `pieces.parts.b', etc. instead of just overwriting like
the old version did.
If you don't have version 34.1 or greater of arp.library, it is available
here on PLINK in either `jlib.arc' or `request.arc' in section 3 of the
library. (I have included it in the wcs directory - eh)
Please address all problems, comments, etc. to me (JAE) here on PLINK.
Above all, ENJOY!!!
john
